Meet Carl Giammarese, founding member, lead singer, guitarist, songwriter, and driving force behind The Buckinghams.
From the chart-topping #1 hit "Kind of a Drag" to classics like "Don't You Care," "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy," and "Hey Baby (They're Playing Our Song)," Carl helped define the sound of the 1960s. More than six decades later, he's still doing what he loves.
Now in his seventies, Carl continues touring nationwide, writing and recording new music, managing the band, and greeting fans after every show. He's the only Buckingham to have appeared on stage for every performance in the band's 60-year history – a remarkable testament to his passion, perseverance, and love of making music.
For Carl, the glory days aren't behind him – they're still playing.
It's mind-blowing that such a great bunch of guys with so much talent found each other and are still performing decades later and drawing huge crowds. I love to watch them on stage because their smiles and positive energy are contagious. I can't watch them without smiling myself and singing along as I get lost in the music and memories. Thanks guys!
You're cute Carl, but I think your dog has you beat!
Yay! A dog on Old People Rock!
